66 / 100

Manampalli is one of the thrilling and shola forest in Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Valparai, Pollachi, India.

Manampalli is known for its thick shola forest and the rich fauna being geographically bordered to Topslip and Parambikulam. This place is actually between Sholayar Dam and Valparai.

This place has some human presence in the form of Sholayar Power House where some people work and thereby lives in the government provided accommodation facility. But the only public transportation available is the bus which goes to Valparai in the morning and returns by evening.

One of the remote forest department rest houses around Valparai. Need to get permission from the Forest Department to stay here. The experience would be absolutely bliss. Be aware that available facilities will be just basic enough for survival. No electricity. Feeble mobile network. You can trek to meenkothiparai with prior permission. Sholayar power house and EB camp is nearby. You will be able to see hornbills, spotted deer, sambhar, gaur etc. If lucky, even elephants and an occasional carnivore. Accommodation and boarding charges are a bit on the high side; however, the heavenly experience will more than compensate. There is a stream running around the rest house where you can bathe while keeping a keen eye for the muggers.

Manampalli Forest Guest HouseManampalli is known for its thick shola forest and the rich fauna being geographically bordered to Top slip and Parambikulam. This place is actually between Sholayar and Valparai but 8KMs inside the forest. This place has some human presence (very less) in the form of Sholayar Power House where some people work and thereby lives in the government provided accommodation facility. But the only public transportation available is the bus which goes to Valparai in the morning and returns by evening. There is a guest house maintained by Tamil Nadu Forest department and not part of the power house project. Not something which we can locate on Google Maps. It shows Manamboli forest on the wrong direction near Idamalayar.

Manampalli Forest Guest HouseThe guest house is safeguarded from animals by a deep canal surrounding the place. We need to drive in over a metal bridge with sharp ridges which makes it difficult for animals to walk. But nothing a big cat can’t jump to cross

A place to stay without mobile, proper electricity, surrounded by dense forest. You can see crocodile in river near guest house.
